Manifesto Zine

Pierrre Bernard
As designers, we impact and change the world in the most subtle ways. Pierre Bernard highlights how it falls upon us to not just deliver projects and media as requested, but challenge how we think, interact and shape our environments. Using his philosophy as a message, I then designed a foldable poster zine that shows the duality of design in its structured and rigid text side, versus the fluidity of a humanist poster on its posterior. Following Bernard’s design aesthetic, the print seeks to juxtapose in its presentation just as the subject matter deals with the design world's intricacies. It is idealized as a free print that could be mounted and torn away to reinforce the subject contents and the relationship between social justice and design.

Pierre emphasizes in his manifesto how the role of a designer must go beyond that of the simple commercial aspects. Taking this into consideration the zine is envisioned to function as a free piece that can be torn from a stack on a wall of all newspaper-style prints. This way the emphasis on giving back an focusing on the contents and its impact carries over into its physical conception and distribution.
